1 The Coordination Council for North American Affairs and the Ame-rican Institute in Taiwan, desiring to amend and to extend theAgreement between the Coordination Council for North American A-ffairs and the American Institute in Taiwan Relating to the Est-ablishment of a Joint Standing Committee on Civil Nuclear Coope-ration signed at Taipei on October 3, 1984, and amended and ext-ended on October 19, 1989 (hereafter referred to as the "Agreem-ent Relating to the JSC"), agree as follows:1.Article VII of the Agreement Relating to the JSC is amended bythe insertion of a new Paragraph H, to read as follows:Notwithstanding any other provision of this Article, if a typeof intellectual property is available under the laws of one p-arty but not the other party, the party whose laws provide forthis type of protection or its cooperative entity shall, unle-ss otherwise explicitly agreed, be entitled to all rights andinterests worldwide. Persons named as inventors of property s-hall nonetheless be entitled to national treatment with regardto any royalties earned by either institution from the licens-ing of the property.Paragraphs H and I in the existing Agreement are redesignatedI and J, respectively.2.The Agreement relating to the JSC is extended for five yearsthrough October 2, 1999.
